A new “Pride and Prejudice” adaptation has been set at Netflix, Deadline has exclusively revealed, with a six-part limited series written by Dolly Alderton (“Everything I Know About Love”) due to go into production later this year. Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman will portray Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and Mrs. Bennet, respectively. Describing the Jane Austen novel as “the blueprint for romantic comedy,” Alderton shared via a statement that “it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”
Elsewhere, Mike Flanagan’s (“The Haunting of Hill House”) “Carrie” TV adaptation for Prime Video has been officially greenlit, with Variety revealing that Siena Agudong (“The 4:30 Movie”) has signed on to play antagonist Sue Snell, and Summer H. Howell (“Curse of Chucky”) is in negotiations for the titular role. The series is reportedly preparing for a summer shoot in Vancouver.
Trailer watch: Netflix has released a trailer for first-love story “Forever,” a TV adaptation of bestselling young adult author Judy Blume’s 1975 novel of the same name. Courtesy of exec producer and showrunner Mara Brock Akil (“Girlfriends,” “Black Lightning”), the series will follow “the epic love story of two Black teens, Keisha (Lovie Simone) and Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.), as they explore their identities through the awkward and moving journey of being each other’s capital-F Firsts.” Regina King also exec produces - as does Blume - and directed the first episode.
