Filmmaker Andrea Arnold is set to be recognized by The French Directors’ Guild at the upcoming Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, where she will receive an honorary Golden Carriage (Carrosse d’Or) award. The section runs in parallel to the main Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25), where Arnold’s newest film, “Bird,” will be premiering in competition.
Variety has exclusively revealed a new trailer for documentary “Missing From Fire Trail Road,” courtesy of Film Rise. Directed by Sabrina Van Tassel, the film explores the prevalence of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, focusing on the case of Mary Ellen Johnson-Davis, who disappeared in 2020.
A slew of woman-directed films have been acquired for distribution by Tribeca Films, Variety reports. “Suze,” directed by Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark, “Good Girl Jane” from Sarah Elizabeth Mintz, “Nude Tuesday” from Armagan Ballantyne, Sarah Carter’s “In Her Name,” and “Phantom Parrot” from Kate Stonehill are expected to become available across a number of streaming platforms starting from this summer.
